Birth, Love and Family photography

My name is Hanna, I'm so excited you've stopped by this site to take a look at some of my work. Whether I'm capturing a birth, a marriage or a family I believe there are so many moments that are worth capturing. The emotions and celebrations that come from living a life are all beautiful and apart of your story.

My work is artistic, emotive and personal to you. Each session itself is a story and the gallery of images you receive are telling it in a beautiful way.

My goal as a photographer is to both celebrate with you in the great moments of your life and tell the stories that make your love and family so special Photography is for the big moments and the in between ones. It's about creating art while documenting your story from family to marriage to parenthood and all the beautiful days throughout.

If you are looking for posed photos where everyone is magically sitting still then I’m probably not the right person, but if you are looking to feel something when you look back on your photos or remember a precious season of your family, than I’d love to help capture it.

Meet Hanna

I am a lot of things; birth, family and love story photographer, as well as wife and traveler. I love taking real moments and creating art. My number one passion right now would have to be telling birth stories, I'm definitely a lover of the everyday family sessions and the epic love stories but for me birth is where it's at. The raw, emotional and intense moments of brining new life into the world is a huge part of what gets me excited about photography. I hold a Bachelors degree in studio art and photography and my style has always been both photojournalistic and emotive. I love bringing dynamic color and vitality into the incredible moments I get to capture.

I am married to my best friend. I watch a lot of silly TV and enjoy wine way too much. I am also obsessed with listening to the Harry Potter audio books on repeat. I grew up in Florida but not at the beach. Where I lived (Tallahassee) it was very hot but when I think of family I think of my parent's house and garden. While Tallahassee may not have been that cool it really has played a huge role in becoming who I am.

My husband and I met in college and have been married almost 2 years. We are now here in Durham, NC so he can get his masters at Duke. It's been a whirlwind of the last 2 years, moving twice and continuing to put my heart into this business while starting over in new cities each year, but we are excited to plant some roots here in North Carolina.

During the day you can find me sitting at my desk doing everything photography related, drinking lots of coffee and not doing the dishes. And if Chris is home you can find us spending a lot of time snuggling on the couch watching cooking shows or GOT. We both love to cook and talk about decorating our new little bungalow but rarely getting around to actually doing it.

We are  passionate about travel and adventure, so when I'm not out shooting or working, I like to be in another country. We saw India together when we were dating and it was the final adventure to convince us it was time to get married, we also just got back from backpacking through Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark. So basically we would go into debt for travel and we live for seeing the world.

What to expect when working with Hanna Hill Photography

Hopefully every session is laid-back and that I can provide a stress free experience for you and your family. Whether I'm capturing a birth or a wedding I aim to be creative, respectful and unobtrusive to the story unfolding. I want to capture beautiful moments rather than poses. I would consider my work mostly in the Lifestyle category. This means that I love capturing real life but also love composing beautiful images whether it's lighting, natural direction or just asking you questions through the session that might draw out an organic and candid reaction. For births though I am completely documentary, I want to be a mixture support team member and fly on the wall, capturing the memories as they occur.

I am a very relational person so for both birth stories and weddings I love to be able to meet everyone in person. I want to hear a little bit about every love story I'm capturing. It helps me tell the story with that much more emotion and connection.

I love being able to give my clients beautiful galleries of photos that tell a full story. I love being able to give the silly shots, gorgeous shots and detail shots for you to experience you session or event over and over. This is why I do give digital files with all of my sessions. I give you the print release to download, share and print the photos that you'll want on your walls, albums or just as keepsakes. I also offer professional printing for albums, prints and canvases, in order to maintain the highest level of quality. The print shop I use is expertly calibrated to my photo editing and gives a new life to every session I photograph.

Words from former Hanna Hill photography Clients

She had a calming presence and was also able to keep the mood light and make me laugh when I needed it! When we got the photos, I was shocked at how intense and real the images were. I honestly don’t even remember her being as close as she was for some of those moments. I definitely didn’t feel uncomfortable being photographed, which to me, speaks volumes to how she maneuvers around the room.

The photos we received are more than just pictures they capture our emotions in that special moment.

As I started to go through our photos my eyes filled up with tears, we worked so hard planning our day and it all happened so fast, I felt like we missed out on a lot that happened. Not only were the photos she captured just stunning, she re told the whole story of our day through each one.
— Sasha P. | Wedding
She made moments of extreme pain somehow look beautiful and I can look at the photos with joy now as I remember the moment our baby came into the world! Also she was so encouraging during the pushing process and was cheering me on the whole time! It was like having a friend there, not just an extra body.
